In 1231, in Spain, a priest was taken prisoner by the Moors who planned to execute him. The King who had imprisoned the priest was curious about this Catholic ritual that he’d heard about and demanded that the priest say Mass before his execution. Father began to prepare for Mass but halted the proceedings when he realized that he didn’t have a crucifix for the altar. Two angels flew in through a window behind him carrying a crucifix and held it over the altar for the duration of the Mass. The King converted.
