Description
The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus was made popular by several visions that St. Margaret Mary Alacoque received during the late 1600’s. The Sacred heart of Jesus, encompasses both His symbolic heart as the source of the intense love that He has for us, and His physical heart which was pierced during his passion on the cross, creating both a literal and spiritual river of grace for the world. In the visions that St. Margaret Mary had of the Sacred Heart of Jesus He asked us to receive Communion often, especially on the first Friday of each month, and to spend time with Him in adoration in what has become known as a Holy Hour. Another important element of the devotion to the Sacred Heart is the practice of enthroning both the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary in our homes. Enormous graces have been given to the families who do this. The feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated 19 days after Pentecost Sunday.
